HEAVEN’S GATE
A POEM FROM MY BOOK, “THE CHILL TURNED WARM.”
The entrance to the gate is ajar.
I wonder if it will lead me very far.
Perhaps I will be able to touch the stars.
Maybe it’s Heaven’s gate
that will let me escape the world’s heavy weight.
If that’s the case,
to the finish line I would race
to see my Heavenly Father’s face.
I would drop to my knees
and ask for forgiveness, please.
I would wipe my tear from his feet
and pray for love and mercy instead of defeat.
Through Jesus’s name I would plead.
